Yara is a recent high school graduate and currently 14 weeks pregnant.* When she took a pregnancy test, she did not expect anything to come of it. When the first test was positive, she took another one, and it also came back positive. When the reality of her pregnancy finally set in, Yara became very afraid.

Yara is living with her mother, and the two of them are extremely close. Due to her age and her health, her mother is unable to work. Their only income is social security, which only brings in just enough money to get by. They are both staying at her aunt’s house, and she told them that they need to leave by December. Her mother’s minimal income would make it difficult to find affordable housing.  Yara has only recently begun her adult life and has no work experience, which has led to fears that she may not be hired due to her pregnancy.

To make things more difficult, the baby’s father is largely uninvolved. He told Yara that he wants to support her, but his actions show the exact opposite. He claims to want to help with the baby, but also that he does not want to remain with her. The constant back-and-forth has left Yara emotionally exhausted.

All of the fears and uncertainties became unbearable for Yara. Believing there was no way out, she scheduled a two day abortion at Planned Parenthood on October 30th and 31st. Fortunately, Yara discovered Let Them Live soon afterwards. As fate would have it, one of her relatives was a previous Let Them Live mama, and she referred Yara to us when she heard about her situation. It was not long before she was speaking with our counselors.

Yara is a sweet young woman who wants nothing more than safe housing for her mom and herself. Her mom wants to be a grandmother, and Yara truly does not want to abort. She knows that it would break her heart and have lasting effects. But like many mothers in her situation, she believes that abortion is the only way forward. If we stand together and help meet Yara’s needs, we can show her that there is another way. We can not only show her how much she and her baby are loved, but we can also give her the confidence to choose life.

Here are the expenses that our crisis pregnancy counselors identified so that Yara can confidently carry her pregnancy to term:
Housing + Utilities | Pregnancy and job / financial counseling | Past-due Rent | Debt Relief | Other Related Expenses
Note: These expenses may be adjusted in the future based on additional expenses incurred during and after her pregnancy. With your help, we can save Yara and her 14-week baby from abortion! Donors will receive updates on Yara and her baby throughout and after her pregnancy.
