Raquel is a young mother of one and is currently 10 weeks pregnant.* The pregnancy came as a shock. When she told the father, he reacted with indifference. He basically told her, “I won’t be there to help.” As hard as it was to hear this, her situation was about to get worse.

Before the pregnancy, Raquel was working a full-time job and had her own car. But when a serious mechanical failure came up and she was unable to afford repairs, she lost the car. Without transportation, she also lost her job. Her finances began to plummet almost immediately, and soon she had a hard time providing for herself and her child. To make things harder, everyone in her life that she thought she could rely on for help told her that abortion was the only way. This is not something she ever wanted to do. But the worse her finances became, the more her fears grew. Raquel could no longer handle it and reluctantly scheduled an abortion on Friday, May 31st. As she was looking for places to help fund the abortion, she stumbled across Let Them Live. After learning about what we do, she made contact with us.

“I had to schedule the abortion. I just can’t struggle with this baby,” she told our counselors through tears. Raquel is sadly like so many other mothers in her position: feeling forced to abort when it is not what she truly wants. But it does not have to be this way. If we stand together, support her with love, and meet her needs, we can give her the confidence to choose life for her precious baby.
