“Camille” is a young mother of two and is currently 10 weeks pregnant.* When she found out about the pregnancy, it came as a surprise. When she learned that she was having twins, it was a complete shock. She knew almost right away that the father would not help. He is largely absent from her life and was indifferent to the news. As she looked at her situation, she became even more afraid.

She currently does not have a working car and has had to rely on public transportation to get to work. Though her job is full-time, it barely covers her essential needs. Rent has become especially challenging to cover, and she eventually fell behind. She has very little outside help and is constantly worried about bringing two new children into the world. To make things more difficult, Camille is possibly facing an eviction. The weight of her circumstances began to grow heavier by the day, and she began to strongly consider abortion. It was the last thing she wanted to do, but the lack of support and her financial difficulties pushed her over the edge. With great reluctance, she scheduled an abortion on October 24th. When she visited a pregnancy resource center soon afterwards, they recommended that she reach out to Let Them Live. After learning about what we do and hoping for a way out, she made contact with us.

“The thought of abortion terrifies me,” she said to our counselors, “but I don’t see what else I can do. It will be so hard supporting more children.” Sadly, many mothers are in situations like Camille’s. Due to her present trials, she has come to believe that abortion is the only choice. But it does not have to be this way. We can support her with love, meet her needs, and show her that money does not have to be the deciding factor for her babies. If we rally around her in this difficult time, we can give her the confidence to do what she truly wants: choose life.
