Mariana* is married with 3 kids and 9-week preborn twins on the way. She and her husband were high school sweethearts and had a happy marriage in the beginning. But soon afterward, Mariana discovered that he had been cheating - not just once, but multiple times. When she found out she was pregnant, he became abusive. This was the final straw for Mariana, and she decided to leave him.

She eventually moved in with a friend, who has been a huge help to her. Despite this, her financial situation began to grow more difficult. She lost her insurance in the summer, and her meager salary barely covers her expenses. Because she cannot afford daycare for her youngest child, she cannot pursue a higher-paying job in her chosen career field. Her husband rarely sees the kids and refuses to help financially, and her marital status prevents her from applying for food stamps and other social services. In addition to all this, she does not have a place of her own for her three kids and her preborn babies.

Her situation has left her feeling hopeless and with no other options. After having a limited ultrasound at Planned Parenthood to help her “assess her options,” she scheduled a pill abortion for December 7th. She was dead set on abortion, but when she went back to Planned Parenthood on the 7th, she discovered that she was pregnant with twins. Ultimately, she didn’t take the pills, but Planned Parenthood convinced her to schedule a D&C abortion for the end of the month.

Mariana was super conflicted and didn’t know what to do. This is when she made contact with Let Them Live. A sidewalk counselor handed her a pink rose with our number on it, and after a few days of consideration, she gave us a call. Mariana explained to our pregnancy counselor that she truly does not want to abort and knows how traumatic it is, but she believes that she has no choice.

The majority of women who abort are like Mariana: they do not want to do it, but financial difficulty makes them feel as if they have to. But it does not have to be this way. With your help, we can give Mariana the financial support she needs to choose life for her precious babies.
