Mom S's Story

Mom S and her boyfriend tried to conceive a child for 6 months before they finally succeeded. Shortly after conception, the reality of having a child confronted Mom S’s boyfriend and he decided to leave her. After her boyfriend left, Mom S worried that she would have to choose between life for her baby or paying her bills.
Although Mom S’s conscience knew better, the thought of abortion as the "easy way out" plagued her, and fear pushed her to schedule an abortion. Twice, she scheduled her abortion and twice she chose not to go. The abortion clinic became frustrated with her and told her, "It's now or never.”
Mom S scheduled her third and final appointment, and then she contacted Let Them Live.
The day before her appointment, Mom S spoke with a mother we supported in the past named Julia. Julia testified of our financial support, but Mom S continued to worry. Financial relief does not compensate for loneliness. How could she endure pregnancy and childbirth by herself?

The next day, while on her way to the abortion clinic, Mom S spoke with a Let Them Live counselor named Emily. Emily pledged to support Mom S every step of the way, and since she lived nearby, Emily committed to keep Mom S from living in isolation.

This gesture of kindness convinced Mom S that she could persevere through the uncertain times ahead. Thanks to our counselors’ dedication and your contributions, everything came together to give Mom S the financial and emotional support that she needed.
Mom S gave birth to Mary on June 9th, 2021.
