“Amelia” is a young mama in her early 20s with an 8-week baby on the way. She had a previous abortion after being assaulted as a teenager, and was led to believe that it would be for her benefit and not have any lasting effects. Unfortunately, no one told her just how devastating that loss would be. The pain led her to try to take her own life, but, thankfully, she was unsuccessful. After entering a patient therapy program, she managed to recover, though the experience resulted in difficult mental health struggles.*

Amelia recently lost her job and a stable living situation and then found out she was pregnant again after being late on her period. The father allowed her to stay with him, and he does not want her to abort but he is unreliable. Her parents are also supportive of her choosing life but can’t help financially. Her lack of employment and not having a place of her own has only added to the stress.

Despite the pain of her previous experience, Amelia chose to schedule a medication abortion, which is covered by insurance. Thankfully, she was referred to Let Them Live. Our counselors told her that having another abortion would only add to the suffering she has already experienced. She truly wants to change her situation for the better, and we believe that if we stand together with her, we can help her heal from the past and choose life for her precious baby.
