Emerson is a young mama of two children with a 7-week baby on the way.* She is getting by with three separate jobs to support her family. She and the father used to share parenting responsibilities and she receives child support, but he has not been involved with them in the past few years. When she discovered she was pregnant, he became much less supportive and more controlling than he already was. He even offered to pay for half the abortion and drive her to the appointment.

To make things worse, Emerson’s friends and family are near her area but show no support whatsoever. They were also unsupportive of her having her two other kids. Emerson plans to keep working her jobs until the baby comes, then she will likely have to stop working for a time. Given her already difficult financial situation, she is afraid that this will put her in a hole financially and that she won’t be able to provide.

With all her mounting fears and worries, Emerson scheduled an abortion. After coming across the Let Them Live website, she broke down in tears, claiming that “I didn’t know organizations like this existed.” She was relieved to speak with our counselors and explained her situation. Emerson is a very smart and well-spoken woman and does not truly want to abort. She claimed that she’s always wanted a third child. But she is also terrified of the potential financial situation that another baby will bring. Because of this, abortion seems like the only viable option.

So many mamas are in situations like Emerson, in which money becomes the deciding factor on whether or not they should allow their babies to live. We do not want this for Emerson or any other mama. We want to stand with her and give her the help she needs to choose life for her precious baby.

Here are the expenses that our crisis pregnancy counselors identified so that Emerson can confidently carry her pregnancy to term:
Safe Housing + Utilities | Groceries | Pregnancy and job / financial counseling | Past-due Rent | Baby Items | Other Related Expenses
Note: These expenses may be adjusted in the future based on additional expenses incurred during and after her pregnancy. With your help, we can save Emerson and her 7-week baby from abortion! Donors will receive updates on Emerson and her baby throughout and after her pregnancy.
