UPDATE*: Pregnant after Rape, Harmony schedules abortion on Sep 23rd

UPDATE: We want to thank you for your generosity in supporting "Harmony." We are always amazed by the dedication you have to helping moms that come to us hopeless and desperate for help. Unfortunately, we are not here to share good news about "Harmony" choosing life. We are not here to share that she had an abortion, either. After many red flags, we have concluded that "Harmony" was fraudulent in her communication with us. There were many inconsistencies in her conversations with us. We have ended our relationship with "Harmony" and will not be offering financial assistance to her. Your donation will be put towards the next mom in need, Angie. She chose life for her baby earlier this week! While it is unfortunate to see people take advantage of your kindness, we want to reassure you that we caught this situation early on and did not provide any financial assistance to this mom. We also want to let you know that we have processes in place that help us avoid scammers infiltrating our pool of moms. We also have safeguards in place to prevent finances from being disbursed to scammers. This person did not get past our process, her counselor, or our other amazing team members. Ultimately, this situation took valuable time away from real abortion-minded women that we could have been helping. Please pray for this person as they are in such a tough situation and would try to take advantage of us this way.

Harmony is a young mother of two and is currently in school with aspirations to open her own business one day.* She has overcome many traumas and difficulties in her life. She endured the trauma of rape at a young age and was eventually diagnosed with clinical depression and severe anxiety. As if this wasn’t enough, she lost her dear brother to a drug overdose last year, which has been very difficult to bear. The news of a recent pregnancy only added to Harmony’s worries.

Her boyfriend is also the father of her other two children and they were living together in her house. He is emotionally abusive and has threatened violence in the past. One night, he forced himself on her while she slept, and it resulted in her current pregnancy. He has been pressuring her to abort ever since he found out. He moved away to another state and has severed all contact. Despite this, Harmony is afraid that he may come to take the kids away if she tries to change her situation. 

To make matters worse, Harmony is facing eviction. She was out of work for a period of time, which caused her to fall behind on rent. She is finally working full-time again, but catching up has proven to be very difficult. It reached a point where the landlord had no choice but to evict her if she could not come up with the funds. This news has been especially devastating. Harmony worked very hard to acquire the house, and the thought of losing it is unbearable.

For the first time in her life, Harmony began considering abortion. It is not what she ever wanted to do, and she began looking into every local resource she could find. Despite this, she had little success. Harmony had become so desperate by this time that she scheduled an abortion. Still looking for a way out, she furiously Googled for more resources and came across Let Them Live. She was soon speaking with our counselors.

Harmony is a sweet and determined young mother who has faced numerous trials and setbacks. She wants nothing more than to keep her house, get back to work, and provide a safe place for her children and baby. Harmony truly does not want to abort. But her circumstances have led her to  believe that abortion is the only way. But we can show her that there is another way. If we band together to meet her needs and show her how much she and her baby are loved, we can give her the confidence to choose life and put her on the path to success.

Here are the expenses that our crisis pregnancy counselors identified so that Harmony can confidently carry her pregnancy to term:
