Isabelle is a young mother of two and is currently pregnant with twins.* She was extremely happy when she received the news. But when she told the father, everything changed. “He screamed at me to have an abortion. It was like his entire personality flipped,” she explained. When he started to become abusive, Isabelle left him and severed all contact. With no help from the father, she looked at her situation and fell into despair.

With the father gone from her life, Isabelle does not have support from her family or friends. She was given an eviction notice not too long ago, and her minimum wage job barely gives her enough to feed herself or her kids. In some cases, they have had to go without food for a few days. As if this was not difficult enough, her car broke down recently and she is not able to afford repairs. To Isabelle, it seemed as if everything was against her. She did not want to imagine going through the pain of abortion. But gradually her defenses crumbled and, with great reluctance, she scheduled a surgical abortion at Planned Parenthood on August 5th. After leaving the building, she was stopped by a sidewalk counselor who told her about Let Them Live. It was not long before Isabelle made contact.

“I’m so confused, alone, and lost. An abortion would make me feel absolutely horrible. But everyone is telling me I can’t have these babies,” Isabelle told her counselor. Sadly, her situation is not uncommon. She wants nothing more than to have her babies and provide a good life for her family. But like so many mothers in her position, she has come to believe that abortion is the only choice. It does not have to be this way. If we stand together, support her with love, and meet her needs, we can give her the confidence to do what she truly wants: choose life for her precious babies.
