“Jay” is a mother of a one-year-old and has aspirations to go back to school.* She has experienced severe hardships in her young life. After fleeing from an abusive foster home, she entered a terrible relationship which tragically ended in an abortion. She finally found a loving and supportive boyfriend, but soon both of them lost their jobs and had to leave their apartment. Soon after this, Jay found out about her pregnancy. 

She was happy, but also incredibly sad. Her current situation is far from ideal. Both she and her boyfriend are staying with her mother, and there are constant fights between them. Jay has tried finding a job, but her lack of a vehicle has made it difficult. Her boyfriend was able to find work, but it is not reliable enough to offer steady financial support. To make things worse, nearly everyone in her life is telling her to abort. Her mother, her boyfriend, and his family are all trying to help her see that abortion is the only way forward. Though she truly did not want to experience the trauma of abortion again, Jay reluctantly made plans to obtain abortion pills. Fortunately, she was referred to Let Them Live by a partner ministry and was able to contact us. 

“I have no car, no job, no money, no place of my own. I have nothing,” she explained to our counselors. Jay is a sweet young woman who has overcome tremendous difficulties. All she wants is a place of her own, a car, and a job to support her family. But like so many others in her situation, she has come to believe that abortion is the only choice she has. It does not have to be this way. If we show Jay how loved she is and meet her needs, we can give her the confidence to do what she truly wants to do: choose life for her precious baby.

Here are the expenses that our crisis pregnancy counselors identified so that Jay can confidently carry her pregnancy to term:
