URGENT: Facing job loss, homelessness, and a bad car, “Loreena” schedules abortion on Feb. 23rd

“Loreena” did not experience joy or happiness when she received news of her pregnancy. * After the initial shock, she began to grow upset. She kept thinking about the difficulty of her previous pregnancies and her current living situation. The more she thought about her struggles, the more fearful she became.

Her doctors explained that she would have to be on bedrest during pregnancy, which would force her to leave her job. Loreena’s finances are thin enough, and losing her job would only make her financial situation worse. Loreena’s biggest fear is that she won’t be able to pay rent and that she and her kids will be evicted. To make things harder, her car has mechanical issues and may die at any moment. All of these concerns led Loreena to begin considering abortion. The baby’s father is largely uninvolved and told her the decision was hers. She has friends and family, but they are unable to offer immediate support. Unable to cope with the uncertainty and fear any longer, Loreena scheduled an abortion on February 23rd. Thankfully, she discovered Let Them Live through a pregnancy resource center and soon made contact.

“I’ve hardly slept for weeks because of this. I know it’s a baby, but I don’t have another choice,” Loreena said to our counselors. This is sadly what many in Loreena’s position believe: that abortion is the only way. But we can show her that there is another way. If we stand together, support her with love, and meet her needs, we can give her the confidence to choose life for her precious baby.

Here are the expenses that our crisis pregnancy counselors identified so that Loreena can confidently carry her pregnancy to term:
