Lucy is a young mother of two and has aspirations to go into the medical field.* When she found out she was pregnant, she began to cry. Emotions of fear and anxiety began to take hold as she thought about her current situation and what had led her to this point.

A number of years ago, Lucy had an abortion. It left her in such a deep state of depression that she ended up giving her mother custody of her two other kids. Ever since, Lucy has tried to get her life back together. Currently, she lives in a homeless shelter but has a full time job. Despite this, she only earns enough to cover the bare minimum of expenses.

When Lucy found out she was pregnant again, this caused her to fear more and more about her ability to provide. She and the father had planned to get married, but they ended up separating. They no longer see each other, but they talk from time to time. When she told him the news, he suggested that she get an abortion.

Lucy remembered the horrible experience of her previous abortion and does not want to go through it again, especially with her baby being so far along. But when she looked at her life and how she wanted to improve her circumstances, she couldn’t imagine herself doing it with a baby. She eventually scheduled an abortion, but canceled it. She soon repeated this process a few more times. The most recent time she scheduled an abortion, she was truly determined to go through with it. The abortion is being fully funded for her by a non-profit. But soon after scheduling a late-term abortion, she discovered Let Them Live and spoke with our counselors.

Lucy is a sweet and determined woman who has been working hard to change her situation for the better. She truly does not want to experience the trauma of abortion again, and wants nothing more than to keep her baby. She told our counselors, “I just want to be able to provide for me and my kids without struggling.”

The weight of her circumstances have left her feeling that abortion is the only way to achieve these dreams. But we can show Lucy that there is another way! If we stand with Lucy and meet her needs, we can give her the confidence to bring her precious 27 week baby into the world and have the good life she wants for her family.

Here are the expenses that our crisis pregnancy counselors identified so that Lucy can confidently carry her 27-week baby to term:
Housing + Utilities | Childcare | Other Related Expenses
Note: These expenses may be adjusted in the future based on additional expenses incurred during and after her pregnancy. With your help, we can save Lucy and her 27-week baby from abortion! Donors will receive updates on Lucy and her baby throughout and after her pregnancy.
