“If you have this baby, you’re crazy.” This is what the father of “Meredith’s” baby said when she told him the news. * Things between them were already bad before the pregnancy. He is the father of her first child and has a history of verbal and physical abuse. She has even come close to filing a restraining order. When she revealed the pregnancy, he told her to abort and offered to pay for it.

Abortion is not something Meredith wants to do. But as she looked at her situation, she saw how dire it was. She recently lost her job and has struggled to pay for rent ever since. Affording basic needs like food and clothing has become incredibly hard, and she does not have a vehicle of her own. Meredith fears eviction, and she has no friends or family nearby. Overwhelmed by fear, she reluctantly scheduled a chemical abortion on April 12th. When she made the appointment, a sidewalk advocate spoke with her and told her about Let Them Live. It was not long before Meredith made contact with us.

“I don’t have a job, I can’t afford rent, and I can’t buy groceries,” she told our counselors. Meredith is a sweet young woman who wants nothing more than to have her baby and provide a good life for her family. But like so many mothers in her position, she has come to believe that abortion is the only choice. It does not have to be this way. If we stand together, support her with love, and meet her needs, we can give her the confidence to do what she truly wants: choose life for her precious baby.
