URGENT: Army Wife Schedules Abortion Saturday, August 5th

Naomi recently found out that she was 8 weeks pregnant.* When she received the news, she said, “As soon as I found out, I was shocked and floored.” The pregnancy made her recall her traumatic past, and it left her feeling deeply afraid. Growing up in a poor and violent country, she was subjected to constant physical abuse, multiple rapes, and suffered a miscarriage and several forced abortions at the hands of her abusers.

Naomi eventually got married to a U.S. soldier named Tom and escaped the country. Despite a promising start, the marriage quickly deteriorated. Tom committed adultery and is sometimes abusive towards her. He claims to want the baby very much, but Naomi fears he will abandon her once he is deployed and is unsure whether she will receive any Army benefits. 

This lack of trust has also made finances difficult. Before joining the army, Tom hardly brought in any money, and Naomi left her job to take care of his child. They currently live at a relative’s house and sleep on an inflatable mattress, but it’s not a stable long-term solution. 

To make matters worse, Naomi often goes hungry, and she constantly worries about her lack of medical coverage. This has been especially difficult for Naomi to bear, and her situation has left her completely overwhelmed and lost. 

When she spoke to a “Christian” counselor in her town, the counselor advised her to “absolutely get an abortion and not try to carry the pregnancy”. This terrible advice and her own fears and struggles ultimately led her to schedule an abortion for Saturday, August 5th. Soon after she made the appointment, she discovered Let Them Live and made contact with our counselors. 

“I’ve been fighting alone my entire life,” Naomi said to us as she talked through sobs. She is a steadfast and hardworking woman who wants nothing more than to get back to work, build a good life, and escape from her past traumas. But right now Naomi is in a very dark place emotionally and thinks abortion is the only decision she can make. 

We can be the other choice for Naomi.  With your help, we will stand with her, meet her needs, and assure her that she and her baby are both loved!
