Rhea is a young mother of a six-month-old baby*. She lives with her boyfriend, Simon, and recently started a new job. When she became pregnant a second time just months after giving birth to their daughter, Callie, Rhea and Simon were both shocked and upset.

Getting pregnant again so soon after having a baby was a total surprise. Even though she and her boyfriend are both working, they are barely getting by. They don’t currently have health insurance, and baby Callie has a medical condition that requires regular surgeries, which has added to their financial stress. With the expenses piling up, they just didn’t think they could support yet another baby.

Rhea discovered Let Them Live on Facebook and decided to reach out. Her counselor explained how we could help her financially and emotionally during her pregnancy. Rhea explained that not having someone to talk to was especially hard, and we assured her that she would also have this need met. Filled with renewed confidence, Rhea talked with her boyfriend Simon and they decided to choose life! She scheduled an ultrasound and began to prepare for the baby’s arrival.

Unfortunately, things took a drastic and unexpected turn for Rhea. Simon decided that he did not want to be with her anymore, leaving her mostly on her own. All of her previous concerns came right back to the surface, and she once again became convinced that she could not provide for another baby. That’s when Planned Parenthood, which she originally made contact with a few weeks ago, offered to cover her travel and lodging expenses so she could go out of state for a free pill abortion.

Many mamas are in Rhea’s situation: facing financial and emotional difficulty, and believing that there is no one to help. Most of these mamas do not want to abort, but believe that abortion is the only way. If we stand with Rhea, we can show her that it is not the only way. We can rally behind her, giving her and Simon the confidence to choose life for their precious baby!
