“Rita” is a mother of four girls and two boys with an 12-week baby on the way. She knew she was pregnant early on when she missed her period. Both she and the father were upset at the news. Rita’s other children are also his, and he helps with them when he can, but his exact words to her were, “I’m gonna need you to get an abortion.”*

To make things more complicated, the father does not help financially, and Rita recently lost her job and her car. She had once been receiving government aid, but this was taken from her as well. Her rent began to mount significantly, and she owes thousands of dollars in backpay. She is expecting any day to receive an eviction notice. She originally thought she would receive help from other resources, but those efforts came to nothing. In addition to her financial woes, she does not have any moral support from friends and family nearby. It has left her feeling all on her own.

The stability of a job, an income and a car was taken from her, and it left her in a state of panic. She resolved to get an abortion no matter what, convinced that she could not possibly have another baby. When her original appointment was moved to a later date, she made contact with Let Them Live. As determined as she is, Rita feels a sense of sadness. She wants to become stable again and does not want to do it, but feels that she has to. Together, we can show Rita that there is another way. We can stand with Rita and help her to choose life for her baby.
