Trapped in abusive relationship, mom of 2 schedules abortion Jan. 31

All these thoughts went through Sarah’s mind when she discovered she was pregnant*. Her boyfriend is also the father of her two other kids, and they share a turbulent past. Years ago, she had an abortion that left her with deep regret and trauma. Over time, he became emotionally and then physically abusive. Eventually, things escalated to the point that Sarah took her kids and ran. However, despite attempts to pursue legal means to break free, she has been unable to escape his influence. This became more apparent with her new pregnancy.

Sarah is currently working, though she is afraid she will have to leave the job due to the pregnancy. High living costs have made it hard for her to afford basic needs like clothing and baby supplies. She drives a car under her boyfriend’s name, and he has constantly used this to control her. He told her she should abort and made it clear that he would not be there for her if she has the baby. Facing a total lack of support and mounting financial woes, Sarah reluctantly scheduled an abortion. Fortunately, while looking for clinics, she was referred to Let Them Live by a pregnancy resource center. 

Sarah’s circumstances have led her to believe she will be trapped forever in this cycle of shame and abuse. She loves her baby and does not want an abortion, but feels she has no other choice. But if we stand with her, ease her financial burdens, and show her how much she and her baby are loved, we can give Sarah hope for the life she wants. Together, we can give Sarah the confidence to choose life for her precious baby.

Here are the expenses that our crisis pregnancy counselors identified so that Sarah can confidently carry her pregnancy to term:
