“Vanessa” is a young mother of two and is currently 17 weeks pregnant.* When she found out she was pregnant, it came as a surprise. The father was as shocked as she was when she told him. After going back-and-forth with the prospect of parenthood, he didn’t think they could do it and suggested abortion. Unfortunately, he was not the only one making the suggestion.

Neither Vanessa’s family or the father’s family live nearby, but when they learned of the pregnancy, they immediately began pressuring her to abort. The families constantly told her how her situation would be improved by an abortion. To make things worse, her job has been difficult to bear. Not only are her shift schedules erratic, but her health has made it hard to do the work. She fears that going on sick leave will result in a loss of income. She and her two kids are barely making ends meet, and she is afraid of cutting hours. Abortion was not something Vanessa ever wanted to do, but the more she looked at her circumstances, the more it felt like she had no other choice. She finally caved to the constant pressure and scheduled an abortion on October 7th. After doing a Google Search for clinics, she stumbled across the Let Them Live website. She learned about what we do and saw some testimonies from other moms we have helped. She decided to reach out.

“I’ve had panic attacks. I can barely afford my two kids right now. I don’t want to abort, but I can’t bring a baby into this mess. I have no one,” she said to our counselors. Sadly, Vanessa’s concerns are all too common. Like so many mothers in her position, she has come to believe that abortion is the only choice. But it does not have to be this way. If we stand together, support her with love, and meet her needs, we can give her the confidence to do what she truly wants: choose life for her precious baby.

Here are the expenses that our crisis pregnancy counselors identified so that Vanessa can confidently carry her pregnancy to term:
