Vivian is a single mother of two and is currently 12 weeks pregnant.* When she received the news of the pregnancy, she was initially very happy. She suffered the pain of two ectopic pregnancies a few years ago.

Vivian and her ex-boyfriend had talked about having a baby, and they were both excited at the prospect. But when he heard the news, he became distant and unsupportive, and now they are not on speaking terms. The fact that he wants nothing to do with them anymore has been especially hard on Vivian.

In addition to the lack of support from her ex, her financial situation has gradually worsened. Vivian has been running a business for some time, but things have slowed down considerably since the year began. The lack of income has caused her to fall behind on rent and car payments. As if this wasn’t enough, the pregnancy has taken a physical toll on her. She goes through phases of having bad nausea and pregnancy related bleeding, and it has left her exhausted and worn out. This has prevented Vivian from finding another job to make ends meet.

With all these fears and uncertainties, Vivian scheduled an appointment to take abortion pills. She walked out of the clinic before taking the pills, knowing that she would regret her decision. But her circumstances once again began to weigh on her. Even her friends were trying to tell her that abortion was the best option. Once again, Vivian made an appointment. Given that she lives in an all-access state and that her insurance would likely cover it, it was easy to do. But Vivian still did not want to go through with it. Looking for any way out, she came across Let Them Live and met with our counselors.

Vivian is a very sweet and loving woman who wants nothing more than to keep her baby. But, like many in her situation, the lack of emotional support from her ex and her mounting financial troubles have led her to consider abortion. She even said at one point, “If only I had his support, I would choose life.”
