“Wendy” is a young mother of three and is 11 weeks pregnant.* When she found out about the pregnancy, she felt a mixture of happiness, shock, and sadness. She broke the news to her boyfriend, and he immediately explained why it would not be possible to keep the baby. As Wendy pondered what he said, she began to think he was right.

Neither she nor he have any friends or family nearby, and they have no other social connections. The feeling of being alone in their situation is very potent. He makes good money, but it is barely enough to keep up with the rising cost of house payments, bills, and other basic needs. Wendy’s kids are all in daycare, and both she and her boyfriend agreed that they simply don’t have the funds to put another baby in daycare. He told her very directly that if they cannot find a way to cover daycare expenses, then abortion is the only way. Wendy was horrified at the thought of aborting and never expected to be in a position to make such a choice. But the reality of their financial trials and lack of support led her to believe that there was no other option. She plans to schedule an abortion on May 20th. Desperate to find a way out, she discovered Let Them Live and immediately contacted us.

“I feel totally defeated. I just want to be able to afford to keep my baby. I don’t think I can live with the guilt if I abort,” Wendy said to our counselors.
